As I said in my last post, I hope to show you some of the great things the Twin Cities has to offer! I am a Minneapolis girl through and through (you are either one or the other!) so it’s always good for me to cross the river and see some of the amazing things in St. Paul.
One of the gems of St. Paul has to be the Como Park zoo and conservatory. The conservatory is celebrating 100 years (!) this year and if you are in the Twin Cities, I would not miss it! I was there on a particularly frigid (about -40F with windchill) MN day. How winter seems so far away already! In the winter, the conservatory and indoor part of the zoo are a great escape from the cold. Nothing better than ditching your coat and soaking in some tropical weather if only for an hour or two!
My favorite part is probably the fern room. It’s not very large but there are so many cool types of ferns in there!
Ok, I said the fern room is my favorite but now that I think about it, it may be a tie. My other favorite is the sunken garden which has different flower shows for each season. The pictures below are from the winter flower show. It had lilies everywhere and it smelled so amazing in there! If you are local, keep an eye on their website to see when when it changes.
Tell me more, tell me more:
Cost? Free! But, there is a suggested donation of $3 for adults and $2 for kiddos.
The nitty gritty. The conservatory is all indoors while the zoo is both indoors and outside. The indoor part of the zoo next to the conservatory has birds, fish, creepy crawlies and even a sloth! The rest of the animal areas are both indoors and out so you can see them all year round! You do have to head outside to get between buildings.
I want to know even more! Check out their website here.

Como is one of my favorite places in the Twin Cities. Nate even asked me to marry him there, so it has extra special meaning to me! I love all the pictures from the winter flower show!
